Loelu stars in 56-goal win over Bulldogs

Narre Warren made light work of St Paul’s McKinnon for the second time this season in the Southern Netball League winning by 56 goals last Thursday, 78-22.

The Magpies are flying high to sit in second position on the ladder with an impressive 8-2 season record.

Last time the sides met back in round six the margin was 51 goals but the damage was even worse this time as Grace Loelu produced one of her best performances to date with 58 goals.

The young star would’ve had a sore neck from watching the ball swish through the net time and time again, while Chelsea Tonna and Ruby Dwyer also contributed with 10 goals each.

The brilliant work from the goalies doesn’t happen without a dominant performance both defensively and through the midcourt.

The Magpies are a formidable side when they have a full squad to pick from and once they get momentum, they are hard for opposition sides to stop.

Narre Warren made regular rotations to ensure that players were able to practice across different positions and add more strings to their bow.

The open netballers will shift their focus to a big game against Caulfield Bears this weekend at the Rowan Road Reserve Courts, as they search for redemption on their round seven loss.

The teams have met twice this season, as well as once in the pre-season and now have a good idea of how to nullify each other’s’ strengths.

Coach Michelle Mashado will be looking for a consistent performance from her side and will hope the Magpies’ fast ball movement and transition will assist them in claiming another victory.

Narre Warren has won two games in a row and will look to continue its momentum this weekend, while the Bears are hoping to jump into the top four.
