Bray, Busuttil, Hoy and Morris scoop the pool at San Remo

Early January has seen some spring in the step of members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group with 45 members participating at the San Remo Bowls Club

The weather was perfect as players waited to be placed into teams; before the battle began to see who would be the winning team of the week.

A few wrong-bias bowls were sent down on the day but, to be honest, it was not too easy to see these among all the excellent bowling on all rinks.

There was lots of laughter from all over the green, along with the usual amount of friendly banter.

A few of our normal bowlers were off with medical appointments and we’re looking forward to seeing them return in the next couple of weeks.

We send a big thank you to Haydn for his efforts behind the bar, and also a big shout out to Gwen for all her hard work in the kitchen.

But, like every week, we have the winners and then we have the rest of us.

The weekly winners on, 35 points, were Kathrine Bray (S), Margaret Hoy (3), David Busuttil (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Runners Up on 34 points were Vern Elliott (S), Wayne Stevens (3) and Peter Taylor (L).

And the Best One Game winners on 25 points were Peter Borradale (S), Mark Hanrahan (3), Raff Merante (2) and Elaine Williams (L).

Thank you also to Peter and Pauline for all their hard work every week.

Peter struggled through today even though he was not feeling too well himself.

And let’s not forget John for all his efforts during the day.

Next week we will be meeting up at Kooweerup and we all look forward to being there.

No pennant on this week but to any teams in the Corinella Classic we wish you luck.

Please stay safe and catch up with us all next week.
