A much anticipated off-leash dog park at Casey Fields is now officially open to the community.

The purpose-built space was opened on Saturday 3 July by Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio and Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards, and provides a modern, high quality, dog friendly environment that can be enjoyed by both two and four legged residents.

The fenced off park has double entrance gates ensuring safety for all visitors as they enter and leave the space.

It also has plenty of seating, including a sheltered seating area where residents can relax and meet up with other dog owners away from the elements.

The State Government contributed $275,000 towards the $330,000 total cost.

Casey Fields Dog Park is one of more than 30 dog parks being built by the State Government, and the first of 15 to open under the Victorian Government’s Suburban Parks Program, $5 million of which is dedicated to new spaces for canine friends.

City of Casey chair of administrators Noelene Duff said she can’t wait to see the benefits this new facility will bring pet owners throughout Casey.

“This new facility is demonstrative of our promise to provide our community with plenty of opportunities to exercise and connect with one another,” Ms Duff said.

“The past year has been a challenging one and reinforced the importance of open-spaces.

“The Council is also aware how difficult forced lockdowns, and restrictions on movement have been on our residents and the off-leash dog park shows our commitment to ensure that everyone in our community has safe recreational spaces.”

Ms Richards welcomed the opening of the new dog park.

“It’s great to see the government delivering on our promises and bringing fabulous new dog parks to people in our local community,” she said.
