Stumping up for Cranbourne’s cricket

Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards announced State Government funding for cricket facilities at Casey Fields.

Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards has announced a funding boost for facilities for local cricket players.

On Saturday 19 June, Ms Richards visited Casey Fields to announce $1.346 million in funding to upgrade facilities at Casey Fields Cricket Pavilion.

She was joined by Shaun Petrie, president of South Melbourne Cricket Club, which calls Casey Fields its home.

The funding will enable the City of Casey to upgrade the Casey Fields Cricket Pavilion on ovals four and five, providing the community with sustainable cricket facilities ahead of expected higher participation in the sport, particularly for women and girls.

“This funding will inspire even more Cranbourne boys, girls, men and women to sign up for the mighty Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club and enjoy the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle,” Ms Richards said.

The funding initiative is part of the Victorian Government’s stated commitment to sport and active recreation, gender equality and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

Through the Community Cricket Program the government has poured more than $2.8 million into 30 cricket infrastructure projects across Victoria.
