Intermediate VCAL students of Cranbourne North’s Alkira Secondary College have gathered at Tulliallan and Hillsmeade Primary Schools to commemorate Anzac Day.

Vice-President of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia Brendan Kincade as well as principal Kathryn Sharp, parents, teachers and students from prep to grade six paid their respects to Australia’s fallen heroes during the ceremony on Monday 29 April.

Following the service, the VCAL students ran activities with the Grade 6 students including a question and answer session with Mr Kincade.

VCAL student Jessie said the ceremony was a great celebration of Anzac soldiers.

“The ceremony helped to strengthen the bond between our schools for upcoming events and for the students coming to Alkira in the future. I found it an honour to be a part of the ceremony,” she said.

It was the eighth Anzac commemorative ceremony held at Hillsmeade Primary School which was attended by Rob Edgell and Jim Dewar – both from the Vietnam Veterans Association of Victoria education team.

Teacher Nicole Scott said: “Alkira Secondary College is proud of the leadership shown by our VCAL students as well as the confidence demonstrated through their public speaking.”

Alkira Secondary College also held its own Anzac Day commemorative service on Tuesday 23 April in the school hall.
