Three graduate paramedics are only weeks away from hitting the road in the City of Casey.
They are the latest batch of 60 new graduate paramedics that have been assigned to different branches.
The new paramedics will be deployed at Cranbourne, Berwick and Lyndhurst.
Ambulance Victoria spokesperson Tom Noble said following a three-week induction, the paramedics will work for 12 months alongside experienced paramedics and undertake additional study before becoming Qualified Ambulance Paramedics.
Ambulance Employees Association Secretary Steve McGhie said the union was supportive of the recruitment of Graduate Paramedics.
“It is important to continue to recruit new paramedics to cope with the increasing population and workload,” he said.
“Improvements are being introduced to support the graduates more in their early years in the job.
We are hopeful more paramedic resources will provided for out of the State Budget and the state election later in the year.”
Minister for Health Jill Hennessy said the State Government was getting more paramedics on the road.
“We’re so proud of the work our paramedics do each and every day, saving the lives of all Victorians,” she said.
