Police hunt two men after attempted carjacking

By Brendan Rees

Two men armed with a baseball bat and knuckle duster are on the run after demanding a man to hand over the keys to his car in Clyde this morning, 15 March.
The incident happened on Buller Avenue at 5.30am when the victim, a 28-year-old man, was getting into his ute to go to work.
The man was sitting in his Ford Ranger ute on his driveway when he was approached by two men who stood at his passenger-side window.
Armed with a bat and a knuckle duster, the two men demanded that the man hand over his keys.
The victim reversed out of his driveway, colliding with a sign and a fence, as one of the men attempted to smash the passenger-side window with the knuckle duster.
The victim drove forward and collided with a tree on the nature strip before running into a neighbour’s house where he raised the alarm.
The men then stole the victim’s mobile phone and keys from his vehicle before fleeing.
The victim was not injured in the incident and police on the scene are searching for the two offenders.
Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.
