Investigation to be launched into plane crash

UPDATE: 2.53pm
One is of the occupants of the pane has been flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and remains in a critical condition.
The other, believed to a man in his 20s, had been air lifted to the Alfred Hospital and is also in a critical condition with Ambulance Victoria confirming he suffered possible facial, chest and spinal injuries.
Recreational Aviation Australia will be investigating the plane crash at Clyde North on behalf of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
Chief executive Michael Linke said the sport and recreational craft body would consider environmental, mechanical and human factors.
The crash scene, log books and training records would be inspected, he said.
“Our investigators are on the scene this afternoon.“

A flying instructor and a student have been seriously injured in a plane crash in a Clyde North paddock.
Civil Aviation Safety Authority spokesman Peter Gibson said the Bristell two-seater, single-engine ultralight was registered with a Moorabbin-based flying school Learn to Fly Melbourne.
The pilot had cleared a mayday call shortly before the crash at 10.40am at Pound and Hardys roads.
“The area is a known (flight) training area,” Mr Gibson said.
Recreational Aviation Australia will investigate the crash, he said.
A critically-injured person has been airlifted to The Royal Melbourne hospital. No details have been given on their injuries.
A man believed to be in his 20s was freed from the plane more than an hour after the crash.
He suffered possible facial, chest and spinal injuries.
He is in a serious but stable condition, and was expected to be flown to The Alfred hospital.

Emergency services are assessing a man in his 20s after he was freed from the wreckage in the past few minutes.
He is in a serious but stable condition, with suspected facial, spinal and chest injuries.
Both he and the other occupant, who is reported to be in a critical condition, are due to be flown by helicopter ambulance from the scene within minutes.

He is in a serious but stable condition.
Two air ambulance helicopters have been dispatched to the scene.
Emergency services have been called to an aircraft crash in a paddock at Clyde North.
Two people were aboard the light plane, which landed at Pound and Hardys roads at 10.40am.
One of the occupants, who was trapped in the wreckage, is in a stable condition, according to Ambulance Victoria.
An air ambulance helicopter is at the scene, together with SES members to free the trapped occupant.
The other occupant is being assessed by paramedics at the scene.
