Police scoop up pub brawlers

ABOUT 30 police were called and capsicum spray was used after eight Hampton Park Tavern patrons allegedly started a brawl with police in the early hours of Saturday.
The patrons were asked to leave the tavern at about 1.15am on Saturday because of their unruly behaviour.
After they left, a 21-year-old man from Narre Warren kicked and smashed two windows, police said.
Police were called and arrested the man but the other patrons allegedly attacked them while they were putting him into the back of their van.
During the incident the Air Wing and Canine Unit were called in.
Six other men and one woman, all from the Casey area, were arrested and taken to Dandenong Police Station where they were later bailed.
The Narre Warren man was taken to Dandenong Hospital with a cut to his head. He was later charged and bailed to appear in court at a later date.
Detective Senior Constable Greer Goldsmith said their quick response meant that police were able to bring the situation under control.
“Luckily police weren’t too injured.
“We had one get a sore shoulder and another with a bruised left cheek,” she said.
“It was a good result in the end due to a quick response by police.
“All those involved were processed by police.”
