Mayor’s Christmas message

City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett has sent a Christmas message to Casey residents.

Every year, as the festive season begins, I’m reminded of just how special this time is in our
community.
While people across the word recognise Christmas, in Casey it is particularly inspiring to see the spirit of this special season embraced whole heartedly among our unique, diverse community.
It is enriching to see the intrinsic values of peace and goodwill promoted in families, religious groups, friends, businesses and organisations, schools and community groups.
There are not many communities in which such a variety of significant multicultural events are recognised, accepted and shared in by all neighbours openly, and without fear of persecution.
I believe it is truly extraordinary that here in Casey, we have the freedom to celebrate with one another, regardless of our background.
These occasions are important as they represent our own individual cultures and create a strong community identity.
Christmas is such a wonderful time to share with family and friends.
It is about giving of yourself – and in a world where time is precious, this can mean so much.
This Christmas I encourage everyone to reach out to someone who may be less fortunate, or more vulnerable in the community.
I also urge you all to be safe, and ensure the season remains full of joy for all families.
Above all, I hope everyone can get in the spirit of this great celebration by enjoying the great community festivities taking place across the municipality.
On behalf of my fellow councillors, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Geoff Ablett,
City of Casey Mayor.
