THE City of Casey is offering free emergency planning and information workshops in the wake of the February floods.
In June, the council will conduct three sessions in partnership with the Victorian State Emergency Service, Country Fire Authority, Red Cross and other service organisations.
The workshops aim to increase awareness of recovery services that are available to Casey residents and to assist residents in emergency planning.
The three-hour workshops will cover topics including recovery information, flood behaviour, personal safety and survival, house preparation, and issues to consider when planning and developing a home emergency plan with the assistance of trained facilitators.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes encouraged Casey residents to attend the sessions.
“In the wake of February’s unprecedented storm flood event, it is more important than ever for residents to be prepared for emergencies that threaten their homes and businesses,” she said.
“I’m delighted that the City of Casey is able to offer such an important information resource to residents.”
The first workshop will be held on Wednesday 1 June between 6 and 9pm at the Arthur Wren Community Hall, Stuart Avenue, Hampton Park.
Another will be held at the City of Casey Civic Centre, council chambers, Magid Drive, Narre Warren, on Thursday 2 June from 12.30 to 3.30pm.
The final workshop will be conducted at the Balla Balla Centre, Berwick – Cranbourne Road Cranbourne East on Thursday 9 June from 6 to 9pm.
Places for the workshops are limited and bookings are essential.
