Big partners

BIG Brothers Big Sisters has received a big helping hand from a local housing estate.
Alarah has formed a community partnership with the Hallam-based not-for-profit organisation, donating $5000 to help the charity continue the support and guidance it offers at-risk youths.
On top of the donation, Alarah provided 50 tickets to the Royal Melbourne Show for its volunteers and participants.
Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs youths with positive role models and provides regular activity days for them to interact with their mentors.
Alarah, in Cranbourne West, also plans to fund four activities for the mentors and their partnered youths to enjoy.
Managing director of Wolfdene Michael Goldthorp said the developer was proud to support an organisation such as Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The charity receives no government support and relies purely on businesses and individual donors.
“The City of Casey and particularly Cranbourne has expanded at a rapid rate over the past few years and, as a result, many established schools, community groups and sporting clubs are now struggling to support this growing population,” Mr Goldthorp said.
“It’s therefore integral that we make a concerted effort to support these existing systems which in turn support the local community.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters program manager Rebecca Wolstenholme thanked Alarah for the partnership.
“We are grateful for Alarah’s support of our organisation and know that many young people will benefit from their generous assistance,” Ms Wolstenholme said.
