A FUN-filled carnival will be held at Casey Fields in December to celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities.
The All Abilities Sports Carnival, to be held on Thursday 2 December, will include a range of sports and activities including football, soccer, tennis, netball, cricket, lawn bowls and walking.
The activities will be run on a round-robin basis.
City of Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford encouraged people with disabilities, from 12-years-old and up, to go along an take part in the activities on offer.
“The event will not only recognise the achievements and contributions of people with a disability to the Casey community, but also create ongoing opportunities for people with disability to participate in sport and recreation pursuits in the City of Casey,” she said.
“I encourage everyone interested in being involved to register for what promises to be a great day.”
International Day of People with Disability is celebrated worldwide on 3 December. It brings together people with disability and aims to showcase the skills, abilities, contributions and achievements and promote a positive image of people with disability.
The All Abilities Sports Carnival will be held at Casey Fields, Cranbourne East, on Thursday 2 December between 9.30am and 2.30pm.
Registration is free and a $5 barbecue lunch will be available.
All interested participants are encouraged to register, or have someone register on their behalf.
