CRANBOURNE residents are being warned to be wary of a business offering discount driveway resurfacing deals.
Consumer Affairs Minister Tony Robinson said Melbourne Driveway Specialists appeared to be an unregistered business with false details.
Mr Robinson said residents should decline any offers of cheap resurfacing or resealing.
People should take their time to check the credibility of an offer, Mr Robinson said.
“Don’t feel pressured into accepting an offer. Obtain more than one quote and compare price and the services offered by checking out work that the trader has finished,” Mr Robinson said.
Some signs residents should watch out for include traders knocking on the door, a quote on home repair services that are cheaper than the market rate and any demands for payment before work has started.
“If you do need work done to your home, don’t be tempted by unsolicited cheap offers. Legitimate tradespeople rarely door-knock touting for business.”
People can report suspect tradespeople by calling Consumer Affairs Victoria on 1300 55 81 81.
