No comfort at station

By Bridget Brady
TRAIN goers won’t be able to powder their noses at the new Lynbrook train station, with no plans to build a toilet when construction starts this year.
The president of the Lynbrook Residents’ Association, Jason Wood, said the majority of members who attended a recent meeting expressed their desire for a toilet to be included in plans.
Mr Wood said there were also no plans to have the station manned, which concerned some residents.
He said room should be made in the design to make this a possibility down the track if it was not a manned station when first opened.
“I think there should be something in there to at least have a future plan to put in to allow the station to be manned,” he said.
And a government spokesman said the station design would allow for upgrades.
“Initially, Lynbrook station will not be designated as a premium station.
“Consistent with unstaffed stations in the metropolitan network, the new Lynbrook station will not have public toilet facilities for safety and hygiene reasons. The station design allows for an upgrade to become a premium station if patronage warrants such an upgrade.”
Another issue raised at the meeting was the possible connection of Aylmer Road, which would enable Lyndhurst residents to access shops at nearby Lynbrook, Mr Wood said.
