THE Dog Squad and Police Air Wing were called in during a police chase on foot in Cranbourne this week.
Casey traffic police intercepted a vehicle for a routine check about 10am on Tuesday and the driver drove off while police checked his details.
Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch said officers chased the car when they realised it was stolen. The driver dumped the car in Marklin Street and took off on foot, running through a few backyards in the area, police said.
Despite the use of the Dog Squad and Air Wing, police were unable to find the man and are appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
