THE team at Bank of Queensland is calling on the community to help sick and injured kids get better by raising awareness about the vital work of the hospitals.
The bank’s sixth annual Banking on our Kids charity appeal, which runs throughout the month, aims to raise more than $200,000 for the five major children’s hospitals around Australia, including the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Cranbourne branch owner and manager Noel Ridler said he was confident the local community would pitch in to help raise the target.
“We are asking everyone to show how big their hearts are by making a donation in exchange for a Helping Heart card and writing a message of encouragement to a sick child,” he said.
“When we launched the appeal we raised $14,000. Last year we raised a huge $170,000. So this year we are pretty confident that with the support of the community we can raise the money.”
Mr Ridler said the Helping Heart cards were a great way for locals to get behind the appeal.
“It will be awesome when customers come in and see our branch walls covered in hundreds of them,” he said.
According to Mr Ridler, when the appeal is over the cards will be delivered to sick children at the five member hospitals of the appeal beneficiary, the Children’s Hospital Foundations Australia.
