AN elderly Cranbourne couple was left shaking their heads after vandals set fire to their letterbox.
Margaret Millerick said her husband woke on Tuesday morning to find their wooden mailbox had been stuffed with paper and set alight.
Mrs Millerick said the top had been blown off and only the frame remained.
“They demolished our letterbox,” she said.
“How the whole box didn’t light up is beyond me.
“These kids must have nothing better to do.
“I don’t know what they get out of doing this to people.”
Mrs Millerick said she and her husband would now be forced to draw money from their pensions to purchase a new box.
“Now we have to go to the expense of buying another one. We have enough expenses,” she said.
“We had to get a new one last time someone smashed it with a hammer.
“It’s a shame that this sort of thing happens.
“What will they do next time? The only way to describe these vandals is idiots,” Ms Millerick said.
