Thunder raises roof, cash

LAST Thursday night was roaring in Hampton Park as local bands created a storm.
The inaugural Thursday Night Thunder musical event saw bands play for the locals at the Arthur Wren Hall while raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
While only starting out, the event still managed to raise more than $1000 to help improve the lives of young patients.
Event organiser Bill Walker-Preece, wife Pauline and son Jamie decided to set up the concert to do their bit for the Good Friday Appeal.
Jamie and his band Full Affect, with members DJ, Matt, Zac and Glen, used their local knowledge to approach other bands to come and be part of the event.
They were surprised by how many volunteered, with bands including Efxr, Disturbing Silence, Arpejio, Fire Underground and In Memory of You offering their support.
Mr Walker-Preece said they also had fantastic support from local businesses, especially D and M Automotive Centre and Pony Music Recording and Rehearsal Studio, who supplied sound and lighting.
The Hampton Park family said they planned to make Thursday Night Thunder an annual event.
