Cup bonus for Cranbourne

CRANBOURNE has been announced as the venue for the Yarra Valley Racing Club’s showcase meeting, the Yarra Glen Cup, on Sunday 26 March.
The move was forced after cockchafer beetles attacked the Yarra Glen racecourse for the second time recently.
An estimated 1110 birds first descended on the course on 27 February, tearing up parts of the track in a feeding frenzy.
The second incident occurred after the weekend’s heavy rain.
The Yarra Valley switch gives local racing patrons a big Sunday double.
The big Tricodes meeting – involving thoroughbred, harness and greyhound meeting – will be held this Sunday.
