Thieves target iPods

POLICE are asking people to keep their iPods safe after a spate of robberies recently.
A 14-year-old boy had his iPod stolen as he was standing on the Merinda Park Railway Station platform in Cranbourne North.
Police said the boy from Rowville was approached by a group of youths aged about 11 and 12 as he stood on the platform at 3.20pm on Tuesday, 20 February.
They grabbed the boy, punched him in the face, kicked him in the stomach, then hopped on a city-bound train.
The victim then followed them onto the train and demanded they give him back the iPod Shuffle, but the youths jumped off at Dandenong Railway Station and ran.
The boy reported the incident at Dandenong Police Station.
On Friday, a girl was robbed at 9.30pm at the Dandenong Railway Station when she was standing with a group of people.
A girl from a second group approached the first group and demanded the victim hand over her iPod while another guy produced a knife and threatened a man in the first group.
About 10 minutes later, the same girl who had her iPod stolen had her sunglasses stolen by another group of about four females.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Senior Constable Hills at Transit CIU on 9247 6666 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
