Hot Scott takes the bride of his life

By Alison Noonan
MOST men sweat over how to create a romantic and memorable marriage proposal.
Narre Warren South man Scott Patterson did just that — literally.
Mr Patterson turned up the heat at Cranbourne’s Beach House Fitness Centre when he popped the question to his girlfriend of nine months Carmen Lisson after a gruelling aerobics session recently.
Ms Lisson, a gym instructor at Beach House for three years, was still regaining her breath after taking the Thursday night Body Pump class when she received the surprise of her life.
“I teach eight classes a week and Scott comes to a few of the night ones,” she said.
“We finished the class and I had my back to the room. All of a sudden I heard him at the front asking for everyone’s attention.
“I turned around thinking: ‘What on earth are you doing’?”
Her confusion quickly turned to elation as Mr Patterson knelt down on bended knee and asked for her hand in marriage.
“We had talked about marriage and kids before but I had no idea he was going to propose. It was a complete surprise.
“I didn’t know what to say. I started to cry and got down on his level and just kissed him.
“Everyone was clapping and cheering and sort of said yes for me,” she said.
Ms Lisson said she was taken aback by the extraordinary proposal from a man who she described as “normally quite shy”.
“He’s never really done anything crazy like that before.
“I’m more the romantic, spontaneous type. When I asked him where he got the idea from he said that he knew if I was to propose to him I would be that outrageous.
“The ladies in the class just love him and they are always joking with him about when he is going to propose. But this was the last thing I expected,” she said.
However, the bride to be said she wouldn’t change a thing about the events of that hot and heavy night, claiming she now had a ripper story to tell the grandchildren.
“I loved it, it was a fantastic surprise. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
“Well maybe it would be a little less sweaty,” she said.
Ms Lisson said a summer marriage was on the cards, hoping to tie the knot in February 2007.
