School’s boring? No fear!

STUDENTS at Marnebek School in Cranbourne have been testing their greatest fears and challenging themselves in a mobile adventure motivation program.
The Pinnacle of Terror was set up at the school yesterday and the kids took it on with flying colours.
Dee Lewis, physical education teacher at the school, said the program extended the students’ personal limits and challenged their fears.
The program was held at the school today (Thursday) and yesterday and was run by Delhuntie Park Youth Centre, who challenged the participants through adventure, team building and character development.
The program involved mobile adventure equipment, which was set up on the school grounds.
They then participated in the Step of Fear, a wobbly five-metre high vertical ladder, High Wire, a tight rope suspended four metres above the ground, Rock Climb, a seven-metre vertical climb, Abseil, down a seven-metre wall, and Leap of Faith, where participants leapt from seven metres above ground to a trapeze bar in front of them.
Activities for high need children included Quad ATV, Bungee Run, Balloon Volleyball and Parachute Mania.
Ms Lewis said the focus of the school was always the development of skills, attitudes and behaviours which enriched and enhanced the students’ ability to engage in the adventure of life, and to become active members and contributors in their community.
