Green estate earns respect

THE environmental features of a Cranbourne East estate have been recognised at the prestigious Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) awards.
The Hunt Club was a finalist for the Environmental Excellence national award.
The Hunt Club development manager Terry Dooling said being a finalist was a great honour. “The competition was very strong, with developments from all over Australia vying for this award. It really was a marvellous achievement for the estate to be among such impressive company and be a finalist in this award,” Mr Dooling said.
In December, The Hunt Club won the UDIA Victoria Environmental Excellence Award, which recognised environmental features such as a revegetation of a melaleuca forest to protect the valuable plant species for future generations.
Other environmental features of the estate include the conservation of heritage trees, parks and wetlands that capture and treat stormwater before it is released into local creeks, energy-efficient street lighting, street tree plantings and recycled water for homes and irrigation.
“We are extremely proud that by implementing a wide range of environmentally beneficial measures into The Hunt Club we have not only created a better community for our residents but have been recognised for our efforts by our peers,” Mr Dooling said.
