Customer halts robbery

POLICE are searching for three men who tried to break into a Cranbourne business last week.
The men were seen attempting to break in to Fast Lane Performance and Automotive on Cameron Street. Co-owner Patrick Laidlaw said one of his customers had seen the men hanging out the front of the factory trying to get in. The customer called the police then Mr Laidlaw while making himself noticeable to the burglars. Mr Laidlaw said by the time police arrived the three men had fled.
“We were very lucky that he was there right at that time. There was no damage or anything,” Mr Laidlaw said.
The incident happened at 12.30pm on Sunday, 20 October.
Police said the men were seen driving away in an old brown Ford Fairlane with no number plates.
The car had three mag wheels and a standard wheel on the front passenger side.
Anyone who knows of such a vehicle or may have information about the men should contact Senior Constable Steve Regnier on 5991 0600.
