Thieves torch car, ‘slurpy’ gear

A FIERY furnace rounded off an icy start on the weekend after a stolen car was found set alight at the Cranbourne Soccer Club carpark.
The car had $10,000 worth of specialist equipment used for slurpy machines in 7 Eleven stores.
The white 1981 Ford Falcon station wagon went missing from The Boulevard in Narre Warren South between 7pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday.
Police said offenders had gained entry to the car, managed to the start the engine and then drove off.
By the time police arrived at the carpark on O’Tooles Road, the car was completely burnt out.
It had been a long journey for the car, which belonged to a Dandenong man.
Police urged car owners to consider installing immobilisers in their vehicles.
According to police, the early 1980s model Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores are the most commonly stolen cars in Australia.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact the officer in charge at Cranbourne Uniform on 5995 4681.
