Peak of terror is test of character

MARNEBEK School students faced their greatest fears at the school’s annual Mobile Adventure Motivation Program called the Pinnacle of Terror on Wednesday.
School spokeswoman Dee Lewis said the program was run by the Delhuntie Park Youth Centre and challenged participants through adventure, team building, and character development.
“Activities included the step of fear, high wire, rock climbing, cargo net, abseiling and the leap of faith,” Ms Lewis said.
The students worked together in groups of 20 and had a ball using a trapeze and combatting the daring equipment yesterday.
“The aim of the program is that the participants extend personal limits and set goals and utilise appropriate skills, attitudes and behaviors to achieve these goals,” Ms Lewis said.
Marnebek is a government special school that offers educational and social programs to students aged between 5 and 18 years of age.
All students have been assessed as having a mild, moderate or profound intellectual disability.
