THIEVES with a green thumb have stolen at least 150 plants from a Cranbourne East retirement village.
Only freshly planted, the small hedge shrubs were simply ripped from the ground by hand.
Police said the thieves would have needed a trailer or ute to convey the haul, which had lined either side of the retirement village’s driveway and was estimated at a total value of about $800.
The theft happened at the Hunters Green Retirement Village on Rochester Parade between 6pm last Thursday and 9am on Friday.
They had only just been planted by the landscaper.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the officer in charge at Cranbourne Uniform on 5991 0600.
