Grants waiting for green light

CASEY residents wanting to make the City greener can apply for a conservation grant.
Local residents and community groups keen to run a project that will benefit Casey’s environment are encouraged to apply for the City of Casey’s upcoming Conservation Initiative Grants.
City of Casey manager engineering and environmental services David Richardson said council wanted to support a range of creative projects from those who were passionate about Casey’s environment.
“Funding from $500 to $1000 will be available for selected projects that will deliver a conservation benefit to Casey,” he said.
“Projects can range from a planting event at a local reserve, an education exercise to promote recycling and waste minimisation, an environmental study or other green ideas,” he said.
Project applications could also include revegetation or landscaping, preferably using indigenous native plants, interpretive educational material, community arts or management planning, training, waste minimisation or alternative energy, natural, built or cultural environment initiatives, commercial or industrial projects, and academic projects
Applications close 5pm on Friday, 13 October.
