Cash to cut family violence

THE City of Casey has received funds to better identify and prevent family violence.
The funding, through the Federal Government’s National Community Crime Prevention Program (NCCPP), was announced by LaTrobe MP Jason Wood last week.
“The City of Casey has received $479,205 to educate and strengthen the capacity of diverse communities within the City of Casey to identify, prevent and respond to family violence,” Mr Wood said.
The NCCPP provides funding for grassroots projects designed to enhance community safety and crime prevention by preventing or reducing crime and anti-social behaviours, improving community safety and security and reducing the fear of crime.
There are three streams of funding to apply for in the program – Community Partnerships Stream, up to $500,000 per project, Indigenous Community Safety Stream, up to $150,000 per project and Community Safety Stream, up to $150,000 per project.
“I would like to congratulate the City of Casey for their commitment to this project.
“I am confident it will be of great benefit to the local community,” Mr Wood said.
