Barassi breezes in

THE Ageing Positively in Casey Festival happens next month, with a host of events and activities planned for older residents.
Run by community groups, in collaboration with Casey Council’s Ageing Positively team, this year’s event includes musical entertainment, information sessions, health and wellbeing programs, and come-and-try activities for sports and arts and crafts.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the festival offered residents aged 55 and over many opportunities to come together and celebrate life.
“There are events and activities to suit people of all abilities and, best of all, they’re all free,” Cr Bradford said.
AFL legend and 2006 Melburnian of the Year Ron Barassi will be the keynote speaker at the festival’s centrepiece, the Exploring Health and Wellbeing EXPO, which will also feature workshops, stall holders and entertainment.
The expo will be held on Wednesday, 11 October at the Salvation Army hall in Cranbourne and bookings must be made by Monday, 2 October.
“Ron Barassi’s ability to motivate people through his clever, witty and highly inspirational speeches is renowned and we are honoured to have him as keynote speaker at the expo,” said Cr Bradford.
For information on events and activities contact the City of Casey customer service on 9705 5200 or visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/ageingpositively.
To book for the expo, contact Karen Upston in the council’s Aged and Disability Services Team on 9705 5375.
