Emergency services attended the scene of a house fire in Cranbourne shortly before 1pm today (Tuesday) with two people believed to have suffered injuries in the blaze.
CFA, the police and ambulance were called to the house on Wallace Road in central Cranbourne, to find the house completely involved in flames.
Four trucks arrived on scene and took about half an hour to get the fire under control.
Victoria Police believe the house was deliberately set alight and a man armed with a knife was spotted at the scene of the fire.
A 35-year-old Cranbourne man was quickly arrested hiding at a nearby sports oval and will be taken under police custody to hospital for assessment.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed a man in his sixties and a woman in her fifties were also treated at the scene, with the man being taken to Frankston Hospital.
It is understood the man was treated for cuts and burns, but both people are in a stable condition.
CFA has issued an advice warning for the neighbouring homes and area surrounding Wallace Road due to smoke in the air.
Wallace Road is currently closed to traffic and people are urged to keep an eye on emergency services alerts for their area.
