A young Cranbourne girl will receive much-needed physical therapy after the community came together to give generously to the family and enjoy a day out.
Emily’s strive for life family fun day was held on Sunday 25 June and over 600 people turned out to support the young girl’s family and their fight to access TheroSuit therapy for their four-year-old.
Emily’s mother Tanya DeWeldon said the day was a huge success and Emily had a great day despite this being the first time she had organised an event of this size.
“I had no idea what I was doing,” she said.
“But with thanks to Aaron Grant and Judy Davis from the Cranbourne Public Hall Committee as back-up, they were really helpful and the day was amazing.”
Ms DeWeldon said she had so many people she needed to thank, whohelped raise the money and help bring the family fun day together.
“I especially want to thank the Lions club, the Scouts from Cranbourne and Narre Warren, Peter Grant, Melbourne Transformers and Exotic limos, all the cosplayers, Nintense Gaming, ventriloquist Lindi Jane, Bubble Soccer 2U, Animals 2U, Slushed Out, Ashley from Digilink, Long Le at Raine and Horne, Casey Radio and Amanda Stapledon, Notti Michelin tyres and Bob Jane Oakleigh,” she said.
The day ended up attracting more people than Ms DeWeldon expected it to, but said Emily had the time of her life.
“It was bigger than I ever expected,” she said.
“Emily spent the whole day pointing to herself and saying it was her day; she knew exactly what was happening and she absolutely loved it.”
Thanks to the generosity of Cranbourne businesses and locals, Emily will be able to start her therapy in November this year.
