Looking to the next phase of life

SENIORS, carers and people with a disability are being invited to consider what the ‘next phase of their life might look like’ as part of free information and advice forums organised by the City of Casey.
The event will feature community advocate, comedian and succession planning lawyer Dona Graham and half the program given over to audience questions and answers.
The forum, to be held on Saturday 8 October, is spearheaded by Mayfield Ward councillor Amanda Stapledon.
“I heard Dona Graham speak at a public forum earlier this year and I just had to secure the same opportunity for our residents,” said Cr Stapledon.
“I took the idea to a full meeting of councillors who agreed with me.
“Dona is a highly entertaining and informative speaker. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience as it relates to ageing, caring and disability.
“Dona has the ability to take all that general information about the legal side of ageing and caring, support services and entitlements, retirement accommodation, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and relate it to the individual in the audience.”
“Anyone who attends this forum will come away better informed – not only about their rights and entitlements but more so about their care and support options now and into the future in their local community. You are also guaranteed a great laugh,” said Cr Stapledon.
The forum has been divided into two sessions: seniors from 10am to 12.30pm and carers and people with a disability from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Attendees can either raise their questions on the day or email them through to Dona Graham in advance at info@carefusion.org.au.
The forum venue is the Council Chambers in Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
Free morning and afternoon tea will be provided by the council.
