THIS year’s charity partner for Casey’s GP Run is the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).
The City of Casey’s Cranbourne GP Run is the biggest annual event for the municipality, and will run this year on Saturday 17 October.
The celebrity guest for the GP Run is Eddie Perfect, who chose the ASRC as the charity partner and is a strong supporter of the organisation.
City of Casey mayor Mick Morland said the council was thrilled to be able to partner with this great organisation for Casey’s biggest annual event.
“Thousands of people flock to Cranbourne each year for the GP Run and the council looks forward to welcoming ASRC on board this year to help raise their profile in the community and much-needed funds to continue their vital work,” Cr Morland said.
“On the day, ASRC will have a stall in Childers Street, Cranbourne, and volunteers will be roaming the event with collection tins, so I encourage you to show your support and give what you can.
“The City of Casey has a large population of asylum seekers and refugees and organisations like ASRC complement work being done by the council.”
