A BRAZEN thief attempted to rob a home in Snowdonia Road, Cranbourne North – while the occupant was home – before chasing the victim down the street in broad daylight.
Police said the intruder forced entry through the rear door of the home on Friday 24 July and woke the victim who was asleep, about 11.20am.
The owner of the home ran outside where he came face to face with the male offender, who had walked down the rear side of the home, before beginning to chase the victim.
Detective Senior Constable Michelle Chiang from the Casey CIU said the bold male offender chased the victim for about 100 metres before turning and running away.
“The victim was calling the police when he was confronted by the offender,” Ms Chiang explained.
Described as Caucasian and in his late thirties, Det Sen Const Chiang said the man was “pretty brazen” to engage the victim, however nothing was said.
There were several cars seen in the area at the time and Det Sen Const Chiang would like to hear from any witnesses.
“If anyone has information about suspicious door knockers because it was a popular time in the morning and that’s what is of concern because he confronted and chased him in daylight,” Det Sen Const Chiang said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
