ENDANGERED species were let loose at Cranbourne Library yesterday (Tuesday).
More than 50 primary school children got to pat and hold some of Australia’s most treasured reptiles and birds.
Frogs, owls, snakes, lizards, fruit bats, and a salt water crocodile, quoll, turtle and iguana were out among the books with the help of Wild Action zoo.
Youth services librarian Sarah Litchfield said it was the first time the library had been filled with scaly wildlife.
“It was quite a funny sight, we had one man who thought it was a wild snake that had got loose and came inside,” Ms Litchfield said.
The library’s school holiday program free event was as fun and exciting as it was educational.
Ms Litchfield said she thought the children learned a lot.
“Information about each endangered species was explained to the children, how they can help them in their habitat and not to let cats out at night,” she said.
