Tree’ wishes come true

St Agatha's Primary School students Matilda, Ethan, Ella and James sang some songs at the launch of the Kmart Cranbourne Wishing Tree Appeal.

KMART Cranbourne launched its Wishing Tree Appeal last week aimed at helping to spread Christmas joy.
The store launched the initiative on Thursday 14 November with a visit from Santa and students from St Agatha’s Primary School performing a number of songs.
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal encourages people to buy gifts in store to put under the tree, which are then donated to The Salvation Army to distribute those doing it tough at Christmas.
The Salvation Army’s Dr Bruce Redman said that half of its clients will not be able to afford gifts for family members and friends this Christmas.
“Christmas is a hard time for people doing it tough,” he said.
“With Kmart’s help, we can help to bring hope and joy to Australians in need this holiday season.
“Over the years The Salvation Army has worked with many mums and dads who come to us in a state of need and despair at Christmas.
“To see them supported and encouraged through the provision of gifts and hampers for them and their children is very special, and seeing the hope reappear in their eyes is simply wonderful.”
Kmart managing director Guy Russo said each year staff continue to be astounded at the thoughtful gifts placed under the Wishing Tree and they knew this year will be no different.
“Communities around Australia continue to spread the joy of Christmas and generously give their time and money to support those less fortunate,” he said.
