Help along life’s path

A YOUTH precinct could be soon established in Cranbourne to help guide young people as they face the many challenges of life.
The vision of several local community groups and individuals was discussed at a round-table forum last Thursday at the William Angliss TAFE.
The hot topic of discussion was a Youth Pathways Precinct in Cranbourne – an initiative that would result in the young people of Casey being presented with an array of advice and assistance throughout their adolescent years.
Among the possibilities of the precinct suggested would be youth accommodation, full counselling services, health programs and educational programs and general life skill programs.
Employment and Youth Affairs Minister Jacinta Allan was present at the discussion and supported the idea put to her by MP Jude Perera, The Reverend Paul Creasey, Casey councillor Steve Beardon and William Angliss staff.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said ideas on the program were well received by those who attended and the next step in the whole process would soon be taken.
“There was also present at the round-table senior department staff from the Department of Victorian Communities who will sit down with the consortium in putting a $30,000 application grant to get this initiative on the road for our young people of Cranbourne,” Mr Perera said.
Participants in the forum were also treated to some of the finest food dished up by hospitality students studying at the William Angliss TAFE in Cranbourne.
